Naruto Characters D-F

D characters in Naruto:

Dan

Dan (ダン) was Shizune’s uncle. After Shizune fell into his custody due to the death of his sister (Shizune’s mother), he began advocating for medical ninja to be assigned to every ninja squad. Tsunade shared a similar belief, and the two soon began dating because of it. During their time together Dan shared with Tsunade his dream of becoming Hokage, wanting the title so that he could better protect the villagers of Konoha. Dan was later fatally wounded as a casualty of a war going on at the time, and, despite Tsunade’s attempts to save him, died of his injuries.

Danzo

Danzo (ダンゾウ Danzō?) is more militant than most in Konoha, favoring aggression and war over passiveness and peace. In the past, he competed with Sarutobi for the position of Third Hokage. It is clear that Danzo believes that Konoha must go through a fundamental change in order to survive, as he states that the First Hokage’s influence has meant that subsequent Hokages have proven to be indecisive and weak. Danzo appears to have lost an arm and an eye at some point, the causes of which remains unknown. He also created Root and acts as its leader. Both Jiraiya and the current Hokage, Tsunade, suspect Danzo of wanting to use Root to bring down Konoha and take over the village. Their suspicions are briefly confirmed during the Sasuke and Sai arc when he appears ready to form an allegiance with Orochimaru, but this is revealed as a ploy designed to kill Sasuke, at the time Orochimaru’s subordinate. Despite his betrayal of Orochimaru, Tsunade is still wary of Danzo and his Root Division.

Deidara

Deidara (デイダラ?) is a missing-nin from Iwagakure. Before joining Akatsuki, Deidara acted as a terrorist bomber for hire, where his work attracted the attention of Pain.[44] Pain sent other Akatsuki members to recruit Deidara, though he refused.[44] After being defeated by Itachi Uchiha, however, Deidara was forced to join the organization. Deidara maintained a deep loathing for Itachi from that point further and became determined to defeat him, even training one of his eyes to overcome Itachi’s signature ability: genjutsu.[45] Deidara was partnered with Sasori upon joining the organization, whose artistic ability and insight Deidara admired.[46] After Sasori’s death Deidara is paired with Tobi whom he treats as a disciple. Despite Tobi’s habit of accidentally angering Deidara, Deidara takes great care to keep Tobi out of harm’s way and even dedicates his final moments to apologizing to him.[47][48]

In battle, Deidara uses special mouths in the palm of each hand to create Exploding Clay (起爆粘土 Kibaku Nendo?), chakra-infused clay that explodes on command. He commonly uses the command “Katsu( “scold”?) to trigger it.[49] The blast strength of his creations is determined by how much chakra he adds to them.[50] His clay can take on any size or form, ranging from microscopic in size to copies of himself as tall as a skyscraper. Deidara refers to his creations as art, believing the most beautiful thing about them to be their detonation.[51] His admiration for his art is such that he believes it can’t be defeated, leading to overconfidence in battle. Depending on the complexity or potency of one of his works, Deidara applies it a designation from anywhere between “C1″ to “C4″, the former being the most basic and the latter being his strongest and most complex attack. For his final act, Deidara also has a mouth on his chest that, once provided with clay, turns him into a living bomb that destroys everything in a 10 kilometer radius.[52] Deidara uses this as a last resort during his battle with Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi’s younger brother, in an effort to prove his art is supreme.

Deidara is the most popular character of Akatsuki. In the sixth poll of the Shonen Jump he has ranked 3rd, even above Naruto Uzumaki.[19]

Dosu Kinuta

Dosu Kinuta (ドス・キヌタ) is equipped with a special speaker implanted into his forearm that serves to dramatically strengthen his sound-based attacks. With his speaker, Dosu can damage an opponent’s inner ear, throwing them off balance and making them nauseous. He can also control the sound waves in midair, ensuring that they hit their mark. He appears to be good friends with Zaku Abumi, as Zaku once comes to Dosu’s rescue and Dosu later seeks vengeance for Zaku’s various defeats. Neither, however, seems to have any special bond with Kin Tsuchi, and as such neither is concerned with her well-being. Dosu is the more level headed of his team, and can adequately gauge an opponent’s strengths and weaknesses in little time. After learning that he is being used by Orochimaru, Dosu decides to kill Sasuke Uchiha not under Orochimaru’s orders, but rather to prove his worth. When Dosu attempts to kill Gaara to more easily reach this goal, he is killed as a result of Gaara’s rage.

E characters in Naruto:

Ebisu

Ebisu (エビス) is a specialist in the private training of ninja, and uses this skill to tutor Konohamaru in general ninja abilities. He initially dislikes Naruto Uzumaki since he only sees him as the container of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, though after seeing the positive influence Naruto has on Konohamaru he begins to have a change of heart. Still, Ebisu doesn’t approve of the perverted jutsu Naruto uses and then teaches to Konohamaru, though has himself fallen prey to Naruto’s perverted jutsu, causing Naruto to often refer to him as the “closet pervert” because of this. In Part II, Ebisu is put in charge of a Genin team with Konohamaru and his two friends as its members.

Series creator Masashi Kishimoto has stated that he likes Ebisu’s design because it reminds him of himself.[3]

F characters in Naruto:

First Hokage

The First Hokage (初代火影 Shodai Hokage?) was the founder of Konoha and used his unique Mokuton abilities to create the village. He was the older brother of the Second Hokage, and the grandfather of Tsunade. On separate occasions he fought Kakuzu and Madara Uchiha, the latter of which he is known to have defeated.

After the First’s death, Orochimaru exhumed his body, extracted his DNA, and injected it into 60 test subjects in an attempt to replicate Mokuton. Yamato was the only test subject to survive, and as such was endowed with the First’s abilities. In later years, Orochimaru resurrects the First and Second to battle their former student, the Third Hokage. With the Third unable to defeat them in his old age, he seals away their souls, sentencing them to an eternity of continuous battle.

Fourth Hokage

  • Age: ? (deceased)
  • Rank: Hokage

Minato Namikaze (波風 ミナト Namikaze Minato?) was the Fourth Hokage (四代目火影 Yondaime Hokage?). He had a son, Naruto Uzumaki, with Kushina Uzumaki, whom they decided to name after the main character in one of Jiraiya’s books.[4] Soon after Naruto’s birth Minato sealed the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox into Naruto’s body. Doing so cost him his life. Before he died, he asked that the villagers of Konoha not see Naruto for the monster within him but as a hero who saved the village, a request that was ignored by most. Naruto has yet to learn of his relation to Minato, though the two share a number of traits that are often pointed out throughout the series.

Prior to becoming Hokage, Minato was the sensei of Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin. Minato’s talent as a ninja was a rarity in Konoha, such that he is referred to as one of the greatest shinobi the village has ever produced. During the Third Secret Ninja War, flee-on-sight orders were given to enemy ninja by their superiors due to Minato’s ability to kill a large number of them instantaneously. This is a result of his Flying Thunder God Technique (飛雷神の術 Hiraishin no Jutsu?),[5] which allowed him to teleport anywhere without notice by the use of a special seal. He also created the Rasengan, an incomplete technique he had intended to infuse with his own chakra nature. He was unable to do so prior to his death, yet Naruto is able to accomplish this feat in later years.

Masashi Kishimoto originally planned to give Minato a different design with eyes similar to the ones of Gaara, a thinner neck and an aggressive face.[6]

During the Shonen Jump popularity polls, Minato only appeared in the most recent one ranking at 9th.[7]

Fourth Kazekage

The Fourth Kazekage (四代目風影 Yondaime Kazekage?) is the father of the Sand Siblings. By his order, the One-Tailed Shukaku was sealed within his youngest child, Gaara, so that he could become the village’s ultimate weapon. As Gaara grew and his abilities began to manifest themselves, the Fourth realized that this had been a poor choice and started to view Gaara as a failed experiment who was a threat to the inhabitants of Sunagakure. As such, he began sending assassins to kill Gaara, though none of his attempts were successful. In later years he joins Orochimaru in a planned invasion of Konoha where he intends to use Gaara to attack the village from within. He is betrayed and killed by Orochimaru before the invasion takes place, who then assumes his identity so that he can better control Sunagakure.

Fugaku Uchiha

Fugaku Uchiha (うちは フガク Uchiha Fugaku?) was the father of Sasuke Uchiha and Itachi Uchiha. He strongly believed that Itachi was the clan’s future, and did all in his power to help achieve this goal. As a result he often neglected Sasuke. Itachi often forced Fugaku to spend time with his youngest son, though even then his mind was always focused on Itachi. His wife, however, stated that Fugaku often spoke of Sasuke when they were alone. Once Itachi began to distance himself from the clan, he and Fugaku had a falling out. As a result, Fugaku began to spend more time with Sasuke, coming to consider him the pride of the clan. After training Sasuke in the Uchiha clan’s more basic jutsu, he instructed his youngest son not to follow in Itachi’s footsteps. Fugaku was later killed by Itachi.
